Q. Could you please share your noted milestones and accomplishments throughout your journey so far, along with company highlights and achievements under your leadership?
What started as an idea of building a JARVIS for the marketing world, is now a three-year-old organization. From starting as a solopreneur who operated from a small home office to building a team of 20+ young professionals who now operate from our head office, the journey has been incredible. While the initial days were tough, there has been no looking back from the day we bagged our first retainer deal with one of the top 10 global software companies. Within a span of three years, Markivis has established itself as a leading marketing consulting firm that is trusted by 5 of the top 10 IT companies in India. Our international client list now includes products, solutions, and service companies, mostly from the US and Canada.
One of our greatest accomplishments not only lies in the successful management of our workforce during the novel coronavirus but also in our decision to give back to society by launching Monday Joining, a platform that connects job seekers and recruiters for immediate hiring requirements. The platform saw more than 30K+ registrations within the first couple of months and was featured by reputed media companies such as The Hindu, BW Businessworld, and Money Control.
Q. Please share the most memorable and remarkable moment of your life.
Every step of this entire journey of building Markivis from scratch has been remarkable. However, I will never forget the day I started this company. While the risks were calculated, and backup plans were in place, leaving behind a cushy job at the age of 38 and starting a new venture was never an easy decision for me.
The day I announced the name Markivis to the larger world still gives me goosebumps. While most of my near and dear ones told me to reconsider my decision, my inner voice told me to take the plunge and stick to my decision. Whenever I reflect back on the journey, and see the path I have traversed, the challenges, the opportunities have taught me a lot.
Q. Where do you see yourself and the company in the future? Or, what is your goal to mark its uniqueness in the future?
I see this company growing at a tremendous scale with a significant growth rate over the next couple of years. The one thing that continues to distinguish us from the competitors is our ability to add value to the customers specifically in the B2B IT & ITeS world. Our understanding of the IT industry gives us a competitive advantage over other marketing consulting firms.
We are looking at new product lines as well. In the next few years, we aim to build products specific to the marketing domain and leverage those products to solve critical business challenges that remain unresolved in the industry.
Q. What is your advice for an entrepreneur who is trying to embark in the same field?
In the last two years, the dynamics of employment have changed. The cost of acquiring the right talent and managing resources has become a significant challenge across industries. My advice to all the young entrepreneurs out there is that if you really want to make a mark in this field, you need to understand the business and its changing trends very well. If you don’t understand marketing yourself, I think that it won’t be a viable decision to enter into this industry. It is all about the value you add that sets you apart, not just the service you extend. Your USP should be the value you bring to the table. If your customers see you as merely an agency, they will always refrain from reaching out to you.
